Trap shooters Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai began Day 1 of their qualification round on the wrong note. The duo ended the day with Singh in 17th and Chenai in 19th position. Only the top six shooters go through to the medal rounds.

Sandhu, a former world No 1, started off well with 11 out of 11, but then missed a couple of targets and finished in 17th place with 23/25, six above Kynan Chenai, who has 22/25 in the first round.

With two rounds to go, Sandhu tried his best to raise the ante. However, in the second round he finished with another 23. Chenai, who won two gold medals at the Junior National Shooting Championship in Trap and another at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, managed to get 23 as well.

Eventually, the day ended with Sandhu finishing with a score of 68 and Chenai on 67. With one more day of qualifications scheduled for Monday, the Indian duo have to give it their all to reach the semi-finals.
