India’s Bombayla Devi Laishram beat Austria’s Laurence Baldauff in four sets in their round of 64 clash on Wednesday. Laishram is through to the round of 32, where she will be up against Chinese Taipei's Lin Shih-chia on Wednesday at 6.35 pm.

The Indian began the match with a 9, 7 and 8 to lose the first set 27-24. In the second set, she started with a 10 and followed it up with two 9s to win 28-24 and bag two points. In the third, she hit three 9s to win 27-23 to take a 4-2 lead. In the fourth set, she hit two 9s and an eight to win 26-24 and seal the match with six set points to two.

In her previous appearances at the Games, the 33-year-old has made the pre-quarterfinals at the 2012 London Olympics. Bombayla had to go through six stages of trials before being selected for the 2016 Rio Olympics. She, along with Deepika Kumari and Laxmirani Majhi, make up India's women's archery team. While Laxmirani has bowed out of the competition, all eyes will be on Laishram and Kumari in the individual archery event.
