The world is marvelling at a 19-year-old American gymnast and for good reason.

Simone Biles, a teenager from Texas in the United States, arrived at her first Olympics in Rio de Janiero as a three-time world champion. And she will leave Brazil having established unquestionable dominance over her sport, winning gold in the women's individual all-around event on Thursday to add to her team gold earlier in the tournament.

It was the emphatic nature of her individual triumph that led to The New York Times calling her "the world's best gymnast". Biles won the gold by a margin of 2.1 points – which is greater than the combined margin of victories from 1980 to 2012.

Naturally, the entire world could not stop gushing at her unbelievable performance.
