England beat Pakistan by 44 runs in a rain-hit One Day International at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday.

England's bowlers restricted Pakistan to 260/6, despite Azhar Ali's 82 and Sarfraz Ahmed's 55. The target for England was revised to 252 after a rain delay. Half-centuries from Joe Root and Jason Roy took England to 194/3 in 34.3 overs before rain brought an early end to the match with England being well-ahead of the asking score of 151 according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

This was England's ninth victory in ten ODIs against Pakistan and also ended a run of five ODI defeats in Southampton. The next game in the five-match series is at Lord's on Saturday.
