Suresh Raina will have to wait a little longer to complete his comeback to the Indian squad as the southpaw has been ruled out of the first India-New Zealand One-Day International in Dharamsala on Sunday after going down with a bout of viral fever.

Raina last played an ODI back in October 2015 and was subsequently dropped from the fifty-over squad after a poor run with the bat. He was recalled for the first three matches of the series against New Zealand. The first ODI begins on October 16.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, confirmed the 30-year-old's absence in a press release: "The BCCI Medical team has confirmed that Suresh Raina, who is recovering from a bout of viral fever, is ruled out of the first ODI of the Paytm ODI Trophy against New Zealand"
