Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu lost to China's He Bingjiao in straight games in the second round of the French Open Super Series on Friday. Sixth seed Sindhu, who had beaten Bingjiao at the Denmark Open last week, lost 20-22, 17-21 in a 41-minute match.

Sindhu blew away a 12-8 and 20-18 lead in the opening game as Bingjiao staged a superb comeback to win it. In the second game, Bingjiao led from the start, moving to 11-6 at the break and then surging to an 18-9 lead. Sindhu tried to claw her way back, but eventually lost the game and match.

In the men's singles, India's HS Prannoy also failed to reach the second round after losing 19-21, 16-21 to fifth seed Chou Tien Chen of China.
