Chasing 273, England were cruising at 100/0 but once again, rookie Mehedi Hasan was a thorn in the visitors' flesh. After Hasan set the tone, the wily Shakib Al Hasan came to the party to skittle Alastair Cook's side for 164, winning the 2nd Test in Dhaka by 109 runs on Sunday. This is Bangladesh's first ever Test win against England.

Seventeen wickets fell in the day and it was England's sloppiness on the field that helped Bangladesh get to a total of 296, massive, given the way wicket played out. Rashid led the way with 4/52 but Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Zafar Ansari got purchase from the wicket, which was considerably on the slower side.

Ben Duckett (56) got to his maiden half-century, attacking the spinners and forcing Mushfiqur Rahim to set defensive fields. Alastair Cook (59) also finally got into his groove. At the tea break, England had command over proceedings.

England's spin woes bore a familiar look about it, especially with the ones skidding on to the batsmen. The ball was dangerously keeping low too, causing further trouble to the batters. The top order of England once again failed to get going.

This was Bangladesh's hour though, arguably their finest in a 16-year Test career. Having come close in the first match, this win was richly deserved with their improvement as a team in all formats of the game.

Brief scores:
