The World Cup qualifiers on Thursday saw as many as 16 goals being scored with Argentina losing to Brazil while Venezuela and Peru won big. Uruguay beat Ecuador 2-1 as Chile played out a goalless draw against Colombia.

Brazil get the better of Argentina

Brazil beat Argentina 3-0 in their World Cup qualifier on Thursday. Philippe Coutinho, Neymar and Paulinho were on target as they dismantled the Argentina defence. The match saw Barcelona teammates turn captains with Neymar and Lionel Messi pitted against each other. Countinho was the first to score with Neymar doubling the lead in the first half. Paulinho scored in the 60th minute to complete the 3-0 rout as Argentina failed to get past the Brazilian defence.

Venezuela put five past Bolivia

Venezuela beat Bolivia 5-0 as Josef Martinez hit a hat-trick in a rout. It was a one-sided affair with the Bolivian defence left in shambles after the thrashing. Jacobo Kouffati and Romulo Otero scored one goal apiece for the win.

Peru stun Paraguay

Paraguay were beaten by Peru 1-4 in the World Cup qualifier on Thursday. Paraguay drew first blood with Cristian Riveros scoring the first goal. However, Peru made a strong comeback in the second half scoring all the four goals during the 45-minute period for the win. Christian Guillermo Ramos, Edison Tapia, Christian Cueva scored one goal apiece as Edgar Benitez scored an own goal in the 85th minute for the 4-1 win.

Uruguay edge past Ecuador

Uruguay also edged past Ecuador 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier, courtesy goals from Sebastian Coates and Diego Rolan. Coates scored in the first half but Felipe Caicedo made it square one minute before half-time. However, Rolan immediately scored to ensure Uruguay took all three points.
