Karnataka made mincemeat out of Rajasthan, while Vidarbha made a resolute comeback against Maharashtra after Anupam Sanklecha ran through them with a seven-wicket haul in the first innings. The Mumbai-Uttar Pradesh game at Mysuru, though, was placed on a knife’s edge. UP, through two late wickets, took the edge at the close of play at the end of day two.

Mumbai-UP match delicately poised

Before the start of the second day’s play, Australian umpire Sam Nogajski was hospitalised after suffering from dehydration in Mysuru, and Virender Sharma had to officiate at both ends. After picking up four wickets in the first innings, Kuldeep Yadav was a thorn in Mumbai’s flesh with the bat too, bringing Uttar Pradesh just eight runs shy of the reigning champions when they were all out.

In reply, Mumbai started well but lost two quick wickets towards the final overs of the day’s play. At the moment, UP have an upper hand and another average display with the bat will prove to be fatal for Mumbai.

Bengal ride on Sudip’s ton

This was not the first time in the recent past that Bengal rode on Sudip Chaterjee’s hopes as the No 3 batsmen brought up another century. K Vignesh has been in equally good form for Tamil Nadu and scalped four wickets. Ashok Dinda got a wicket towards the end of the day’s play. Tamil Nadu have been good form with the bat, riding predominantly on the heroics of skipper Abhinav Bindra.

Karnataka rule over Rajasthan

Vinay Kumar reached 400 wickets in First-Class wickets against Rajasthan. The in-form Sreenath Aravind yet again impressed with the ball to dismiss Rajasthan for 148. Karnataka were solid with the bat too as openers Ravikumar Samarth and KL Rahul took their side’s lead past the 300-run mark.
