Solid knocks by Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli at the other end helped India post 148 for two against England at tea on the second day of the Third Test in Mohali on Sunday.

Earlier, England were bowled out for 283 in their first innings after adding 15 runs to their overnight score.

Pujara (51 not out) and Kohli (40 not out) batted cautiously, adding 75 unbeaten runs for the third wicket. India scored 88 runs in 29 overs in the post lunch session and are now trailing by 135 runs.

This was Pujara’s 11th Test half-century. The Saurashtra batsman hit eight boundaries in his effort. Kohli too adopted a similar approach, smashing six boundaries.

Earlier Parthiv Patel (42) got off to a start having to open in place of the injured KL Rahul. But he fell after England successfully used their DRS review off Adil Rashid’s bowling.
India had already lost Murali Vijay for 12 in the morning session.
