India lost 1-2 against New Zealand to move out of contention for a quarter-final spot in the women’s World Team Squash Championships in Paris on Wednesday, PTI reported.

Dipika Pallikal beat Megan Craig in straight games in the opening match but India’s Joshna Chinappa could not keep the momentum going as as she lost to Joelle King.

With the game level at 1-1, India’s fate was in the hands of Sunayna Kuruvilla, who faced Amanda Landers Murphy.

Murphy proved too tough to beat for Sunayna, as India collapsed to its second defeat and were left out of contention for the last-eight stage.

India will now play the 9-17 placings matches.
