The big news: Arsenal stunned

Arsenal suffered a stunning 2-1 defeat against 10-man Everton on Wednesday at Goodison Park. With the loss, Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the Premier League as Everton secured their first win since October. The Gunners went 1-0 up owing to a Alexis Sanchez free-kick early in the first half.

Everton equalised just before half-time when Seamus Coleman slotted in a beautiful cross by Leighton Baines. The Toffees then started applying pressure as Williams powered home a late header to complete the turnaround. Everton captain Phil Jagielka was sent off in the dying minutes, which gave Everton a late shudder. However, Arsenal failed to capitalise on the situation and lost their first match of the league defeat since their opening match of the season, leaving them three points behind leaders Chelsea. Everton are up to seventh, four points behind fifth-placed Tottenham.
