There is a spicy India-Pakistan cricket rivalry here again, but this time, weather might just hand over the advantage to Pakistan and even Duckworth-Lewis will not be needed.

On Friday, the second day of the fourth Test between India and West Indies at Trinidad was abandoned. Which means that five sessions in two days have seen rain interruptions. West Indies batted till 62/2 on lunch on the first day, after which rain intervened to bring an early end to the day.

The weather forecast for the next three days is decidedly gloomy.

And Virat Kohli's men will not be happy. The incessant rain means West Indies have more than a chance to escape with a draw in the final Test, which will leave the series scoreline at 2-0. India will no doubt be the victors but they might not be the happiest.

There is the small matter of the No. 1 Test ranking. And that is where Pakistan come in.

India are currently top of the table after Australia crashed to a humiliating series defeat in Sri Lanka. But it might not last long. Unless India win the last Test and take the series with a 3-0 margin, India will be overtaken at the top – by Pakistan.

Yes, Pakistan. Misbah-ul-Haq team's fantastic comeback in England, where they bounced back from a 1-2 deficit to draw the Test series 2-2 has catapulted them to second place on the official rankings. And in case the last Test in West Indies is drawn (or, in the very unlikely scenario that India lose), Pakistan will go on top of the rankings, pushing India to second.

It will be a bitter pill for Kohli to swallow, especially considering the great work his team has put in. But will the rain gods listen to his wishes? Or do they bestow their blessings on Misbah?

For the answer, keep watching the clouds.
