Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic beat Austria’s Dominic Thiem in his opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London on Sunday. The Serb won 6-7 (10), 6-0, 6-2 in a match that saw off-the-court action as well.
Djokovic was given a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct after losing the first set in a tie-breaker in over an hour. However, Djokovic won 12 of the last 14 games to win the match. Djokovic outclassed Thiem 6-0, 6-2 in the second and third set within 55 minutes. The Serbian tennis ace can regain the top spot if he wins at least two group matches and goes on to win the trophy.
Canadian Milos Raonic will play Djokovic in his next match on Tuesday, while Frenchman Gael Monfils takes on Thiem. In the second match of the day, Raonic beat Monfils 6-3, 6-4 for an easy win. Andy Murray, who replaced Djokovic as number one last week, plays Marin Cilic in his opening match on Monday.
