Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin signed a six-and-a-half year old deal at the North London club on Monday, which will see him earn up to 100,000 pounds a week.

The Spaniard had previously signed a deal in 2015, and the new contract was made amidst increasing pressure from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Bellerin’s boyhood club Barcelona.

The 21-year-old, joined the club in 2011 and spent two years as a youth player for the Gunners before progressing to the first team. Over the last two seasons, Bellerin established himself as one of the mainstays of his side, becoming the club’s first choice right-back with a string of consistent performances.

Bellerin has made 67 top flight appearances for Arsenal and recently suffered an injury during the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, which saw him being sidelined for a month, missing his side’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
