India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu is currently going through a purple patch in her career. She created history by winning the silver medal at the Rio Olympics in August. Last week she became the second Indian after Saina Nehwal to win the China Open Super Series, her first of probably many to come.

Sindhu destroyed China’s Sun Yu 21-11, 17-21, 21-11 to clinch the China Open title. Sindhu cruised through the first game and was outplayed in the final stages in the second. But she held her nerve outclassed Yu 21-11 in the third. However, her semi-final clash was more enthralling as she beat South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun 11-21, 23-21, 21-19. Sindhu is on course to becoming one of India greatest badminton players of all time.

Her next stop is the Hong Kong Open and we are hoping her splendid run continues and that it propels her to greater heights.
