India got their Women’s Asia Cup campaign off to a flying start with a convincing 64-run victory over Bangladesh in their opening Twenty20 International in Bangkok on Saturday, IANS reported.

Batting first, India posted 118 for six in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for a paltry 54.

Poonam Yadav scalped three wickets, while experienced pacer Jhulan Goswami and Anuja Patil picked up two wickets apiece.

Only two Bangladeshi batters managed to get into double figures, with six making just one run each.

Earlier, skipper Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten 49 and stitched together a crucial 70-run opening stand with Smriti Mandhana (41) to take India to a respectable score.
