Indian boxers ended the year on a high with Vikas Krishan perched at fourth in the International Boxing Association rankings, while world championships silver medallist Saweety Boora soared to second in the table.

Krishan finished the year on a high, winning the pro boxer of the year award in the AIBA gala in Montreux recently on the back of a memorable season that saw him winning 1,350 points in the 75 kg category, reported PTI. The 24-year-old also reached the quarter-finals in the Rio Olympics.

Shiva Thapa also made upward strides – in the Bantamweight category – moving up to seventh in the 56 kg category with a total of 960 points. Thapa has recently moved up to lightweight 60 kg category.

Among women, Boora was placed second in the 81 kg category. Sarjubala Devi is now third in the table in the light flyweight category (48 kg). Sonia Lather was also placed at third in the 57 kg category.
