Defending champions Real Madrid beat Napoli 3-1 after conceding an early away goal to almost cement their spot in a seventh straight Champions League quarter-final as goals from Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Casemiro sealed the win. Lorenzo Insigne’s stunning 40-yard strike gave Napoli a dream start. However, Benzema headed home an equaliser before Kroos and Casemiro netted one goal apiece to hand Real Madrid a commanding lead ahead of the second leg on March 7.

Arsenal were beaten 5-1 by Bayern Munich in their round-of-16 Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena on Thursday. Arsenal were on the scoresheet owing to a first half goal by Alexis Sanchez. However, the goal was lucky to come by as Sanchez missed his own penalty, but quickly netted the ball on the rebound to equalise after Arjen Robben’s opener. In the second half, Robert Lewandowski scored the second with Thiago Alcantara scoring twice to make it 4-1. Substitute Thomas Muller slotted in the fifth for the night against a hapless Arsenal defence.
