Haryana’s Sandeep Kumar surpassed his own national record with a gold in the men’s 50 km event of the National Race Walking Championships in New Delhi on Saturday, PTI reported.

Kumar completed the race in three hours 55 minutes and 59.05 seconds that also saw him qualify for the London World Championships in August.

He had previously clocked 3:56:22 at the IAAF World Race Walking Cup at Taicang, China in May 2014, to claim the national record.

Services’ Jitender Singh (4:02:11.58) and Chandan Singh (4:04:18.41) won silver and bronze respectively. Both the runners-up also booked their berths for the World Championships.
