Former India under-19 cricketer Harmeet Singh was arrested after driving his car on to the platform of a Mumbai suburban railway station at around 8 am on Monday, reported Hindustan Times. The Andheri railway station in north-west Mumbai saw chaos among passengers during morning peak hours of travel because of the incident.

The 25-year-old Singh, who is currently into real estate business, is a former member of the Indian under-19 cricket team. He has also played in the Indian Premier League for Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab.

“He is said to have brought the car on to the platform from a road, which has been laid to bring in raw material for construction work at the station,” said an official of the Andheri Railway Police Force, which looks after security at the station.

“He is from Punjab. He lives in [the northern Mumbai suburb of] Malad. He seems new to Mumbai. As of now it looks like he did it by mistake. We see no other reason behind it. He has been arrested,” said the official. Singh has been booked under the railway act and the police are trying to establish if he was drunk.
