Indian grandmaster Dronavalli Harika won the second game of World Women’s Chess Championship semi-final by beating China’s Tan Zhongyi in Tehran on Saturday. With the win, the duo will fight for a place in the final in the tie-breaker round. Harika lost her first game on Friday and had her back against the wall, before winning the second to take the match into a tie-breaker.
The Indian has been a part of every single tiebreaker of the championship till date and has won all her matches, reported PTI. The other semi-final match-up saw Alexandra Kosteniuk of Russia losing her second straight game against Anna Muzychuk of Ukraine, thereby ending her run at the tournament.
Result: Anna Muzychuk (Ukr) beat Alexandra Kosteniuk (Rus) 2-0; D Harika (Ind) beat Tan Zhongyi (Chn) 1-1 – goes to tiebreak.
