Playback singer turned Bharatiya Janata Party Minister Babul Supriyo has been appointed as the vice-president of the FIFA U-17 World Cup organising committee, the All India Football Federation chief Praful Patel announced on Wednesday on Twitter.

The event, which will be India’s first FIFA event in its history, will be played between October 6 to 28 later in the year. The draw of the tournament will be held on July 7. A FIFA team is scheduled to visit the host country between March 21 to 27 for the final inspection of the facilities in the six cities which will host matches during the tournament.
