Portugal beat Hungary 3-0 in their World Cup qualifier at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon on Saturday. Andre Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo were on target as Hungary were outclassed in all departments of the game. Ronaldo reached 70 international goals as the captain netted two superb strikes after Silva’s opener.

With the win, Portugal went within three points of leaders Switzerland in Group B, who beat Albania 1-0 earlier on Saturday, while Hungary sit five points behind in third place with five matches left.

Netherlands stunned

The Netherlands were beaten 2-0 by Bulgaria at the Vasil Levski stadium in Group A. It was a horrific debut for 17-year-old defender Matthijs de Ligt as he handed Bulgaria an early goal. Spas Delev struck twice with his first international goal. The 2-0 win sent Bulgaria’s team to third in the Group A standings with nine points from five games one point behind Sweden. The Netherlands are fourth with seven points.

Lukaku saves Belgium

Romelu Lukaku’s 90th minute strike helped Belgium grab a point against nine-man Greece in a 1-1 draw in Group H. Greece went 1-0 up at the start of the second-half as Kostas Mitroglou gave his side an early lead. Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Giorgos Tzavellas were sent off as Greece were down to nine players.

France continue to dazzle

France demolished Luxembourg to win 3-1 at the Stade Josy Barthel on Saturday in Group A. France took an early lead owing to Olivier Giroud before both teams won penalties in the space of four first-half minutes. Aurelien Joachim drew Luxembourg level from the spot in the 34th minute after Blaise Matuidi pushed Daniel Da Mota. However, Da Mota gave away another penalty at the other end when he tripped Djibril Sidibe, and Antoine Griezmann put France back in front. Giroud nodded in a late third to secure the win.
