Former India captain MS Dhoni regained his finishing touch as he led Rising Pune Supergiants to narrow win over Sunrisers Hyderabad off the last-ball of the contest.

Even as Dhoni showed-off his finishing skills with a 34-ball 61, Mumbai Indians produced a clinical bowling performance to defend a modest total of 142 against Delhi Daredevils.

Here are some of the most interesting statistics from the day’s two encounters.

  • It was the first time this season that a team successfully chased down a target off the final delivery of the match.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad’s torrid away form continued. They have now lost all their games played away from home. Ironically, they have win all their games played in Hyderabad.
  • MS Dhoni averages 58.28 in successful chases in the IPL. Only David Warner (79.64) and Chris Gayle (69.88) have a better average among batsmen with 20 or more innings in successful chases.
  • This was the 15th time time that Dhoni has remained unbeaten in a successful chase in the IPL. Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja have done so 16 times.
  • At 17 years, 199 days, Washington Sundar on Saturday became the third youngest player to make his IPL debut. Sarfraz Khan (17 years 177 days) and Pradeep Sangwan (17 years 179 days) made their first appearance in the franchise-based league at a younger age.
  • The win over Delhi Daredevils was Mumbai Indians’ sixth consecutive win this. The last time they won so many on the trot was in 2008.
  • At 48.10 Delhi Daredevils have the worst win-percentage while chasing, the lowest among all the teams playing in the tournament. They have so far lost all three games they have played while batting second.
  • Chris Morris became only the second player in the IPL to score a half-century after coming into bat at number 8. Before his 52 on Saturday, only Harbhajan Singh had managed to score a half-ton after coming into bat so late. Incidentally, he scored that knock at Wankhede (64 vs Kings XI Punjab in 2015).
  • Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada’s 91-run partnership is the second highest stand for the seventh wicket. J Suchith and Harbhajan Singh had added 100 runs for Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab also at the Wankhede in 2015.
  • Delhi were 24/6 at one stage during their chase.  It is the second lowest score at the fall of sixth wicket in the IPL. The lowest is 11 by Kochi Tuskers Kerala against Deccan Chargers in 2011.
