The Board of Control for Cricket in India has missed the April 25 deadline set for announcing squads for the Champions Trophy. India, who are the defending champions, is the only team to have missed the deadline.

Pakistan were the last team to submit their squad to the International Cricket Council before the deadline ended on Tuesday.

The BCCI has been at loggerheads with ICC over the proposed reduction in their share of revenue. BCCI has threatened to pull out of the June 1-18 event in the United Kingdom.

While, there has not been an official word from BCCI over a possible pull-out, not naming the squad is being seen as a pressure tactic.

However, the ICC allows countries to name their squads post the deadline under certain circumstances. The BCCI has, so far, not officially sought an extension, which many could perceive as a show of defiance.

PTI cited sources within the BCCI saying that the squad has already been picked but they are holding back the announcement.

“Tell me one thing, if we name the squad, say for example on May 5, will ICC bar us from participation. We have a settled squad and naming it is a mere formality,” a top BCCI official told PTI.
