I-League champions Aizawl FC are all set to lose two of their best players, Lalramchullova and Mahmoud Al-Amna to East Bengal. The Kolkata giants are the best to sign players for the next season, and may have captured the best player of the I-League Al-Amna in a bid to return to the top in the forthcoming year.

While they may have only finished third in the recently concluded I-League, sources at Aizawl have confirmed that the 34-year old Al-Amna, who may have been the best player of the league and the 21-year old defender Lalramchullova have signed contracts with EB.

Al-Amna has been signed to a shorter contract, till the conclusion of the Calcutta Football League. Chullova has been handed a one-year contract. Uncertainties about the future structure of India’s top tier football league remain and perhaps that could have been a reason for handing out a short-term contract.

East Bengal have not won the league for 13 years now and had signed another Aizawl player, David Lalrinmuana last season. But the former Aizawl captain did not see sufficient gametime during the season. EB have picked up the Invitation to Bid (ITB) document for next season’s ISL and a decision of whether they will be part of a revamped tournament will be taken later this week.
