The Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Committee of Administrators have approved the appointment of Bharat Arun as bowling coach following a request from India’s new head coach Ravi Shastri, Mumbai Mirror reported.

The 54-year-old, who held the post during Shastri’s earlier stint as team director, will join the team ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, the report stated.

“That has always been the practice and we’ve followed that by granting Ravi’s request. Arun will be back as the bowling coach,” a CoA member was quoted as saying.

According to the report, the CoA will now deliberate of the Cricket Advisory Committee suggested names of Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan for the post of bowling and batting consultant.

“Their services will also be utilized too but it will be as per the need,” said the CoA member. “They will be pressed into service for the overseas tours but Ravi will have a say on that too,” the member added.

The CoA-formed four member committee comprising Diana Edulji, CK Khanna, Amitabh Choudhary and Rahul Johri is set to meet Shastri on Tuesday. The panel is likely to decide terms of their contract as well as remuneration, the report added.

The new committee will also deliberate over the appointment of a manager for the Indian team.
