On Friday, October 6, India’s under-17 squad will feature in the country’s first ever Fifa World Cup match. It’s a much-anticipated moment in Indian football history and as senior captain Sunil Chhetri put it in his message to the squad, one that many legends of the sport in India could never imagine.
India are in Group A along with USA, Colombia and Ghana. They will take on United States in the opener on Friday in New Delhi.
The squad consists 21 players who are eager to prove their pedigree out there in the middle. Of course, the players have their task cut out for them but it also promises to be a great learning curve.
