The Supreme Court-appointed administrators to oversee the governance of Indian cricket are not happy with the assistants of top Board of Control for Cricket in India officials for a number of reasons, according to a report in The Indian Express.
The BCCI’s Committee of Administrators reportedly do not want the board officials’ executive assistants to attend meetings so that sensitive information is not leaked to the media. The report said that COA chief Vinod Rai ordered the assistants to leave midway through the Indian Premier League’s governing council meeting held in Delhi last week where player retention for next season was among the things discussed.
The COA is also not pleased with the assistants instructing other officials on behalf of their superiors and asking the television broadcasting crew to focus on their bosses during live matches, the report said.
“Apparently, these office-bearers have also been seen telling the TV crew to show them on screen while their executive assistants lurk behind the crew to ensure that it gets done,” the report quoted an unnamed official as saying. “The CoA felt that this needs to be stopped,” the official added.
Rai has sent an email to BCCI officials with a list of new guidelines in this regard, according to the report. A BCCI spokesperson declined to comment on the matter, the report added.
