Touted as one of the brightest among India's next generation of cricketers, Rishabh Pant smashed a triple hundred at almost a run-a-ball in a game that has already smashed a few records. Nineteen-year-old Pant became the third youngest triple-centurion in the Ranji Trophy en route to his 326 ball 308 to take Delhi to 590 in reply to Maharashtra 635/2. Pant's effort contained 42 fours and eight sixes.
The southpaw's intent to score quickly was evident from Delhi's Ranji Trophy opener against Assam, where he had smashed 146 from just 124 balls.
Here, Delhi had their task cut out at 395/6 on the third day. Pant joined hands with Varun Sood to crack a 162-run eight wicket stand. The match, held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai also witnessed the collapse of a 69-year old domestic record as Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawne amassed a 594-run stand.
